Karlie Koontz is a multidisciplinary artist that lives and works in Akron, Ohio. Koontz received their BFA in Painting from Kent State University. They have been in shows across Northeast Ohio, and have earned several awards for their work. Working primarily in acrylic, Koontz pulls from their lived experience to inform their work, taking the ordinary and mundane into colorful repeating patterns and unrealistic environments. Keen eyes may notice motifs from American Folk Art and Mediterranean imagery, blending together culture and heritage into the fabric of their pieces. Beyond painting, Koontz also works in photography, drawing, and printmaking, allowing their practice to be a broad breadth of creativity.
